Whew! The energy of fall is approaching and it’s bringing a busy schedule with it!!! For me and my fam, we are busy with new school routines, church events restarting after breaking for the summer, keeping up with unexpected travel plans, and trying our best to create new rhythms at home that will bring our family some function, predictability, and rest. When we jump into seasons like this, where life seems to be going a million miles a minute, it can be tricky to pause and reflect on the sweet blessings God places in our lives. But oh how important it is to praise God for His goodness!! So, I wrote a short list of things bringing me joy amongst the chaos. I’m sharing it with you today as a little life update, but more importantly, I pray that as you read my list, you’ll be encouraged to write your own; To reflect on the joys God is bringing you in this season and thank Him for the beauty He’s planting in your life!
Getting involved in our local church
Last week I started attending a women’s bible study that meets every Wednesday, and Alex and I also started attending a bible study together, both through our local church. It gets me sooo excited to dig into the word with other people. To learn from others, and just be part of a community where we are seen and known. I cannot stress enough how much joy this brings me!!!!
The at-home coffee bar Alex set up for me
My at home coffee game is STRONG right now!! We have a little cart for our coffee machines and Alex put up some shelves for me to put my syrups and cups and things, and it’s the perfect set up. Having a dedicated spot for my coffee makes me enjoy making coffee at home so much!
Getting rid of the swimsuits I will never wear again
It’s random, it’s insignificant, but the JOY it brought me. lol you guys, I guess I’m easy to please. I had so many swimsuits that I never wore and knew I never would again. After a major and much needed purge, I officially own just 3 swimsuits and I’ve never been happier! Less options, less stress, more room in my closet.
Going on family walks after dinner
Alex and I have been trying to get out for a walk with the boys every evening we’re home. It’s a short walk around our block and only takes about 10 minutes total, but it’s been a great way for us to intentionally spend time as a family. It helps us all take a deep breath of fresh air and release the stress of the day so we can (attempt to) have a more peaceful evening.
Water coloring
Last summer my cousin taught a water color class for some of us in the family and it brought me so much joy! Since then, I’ve had the desire to paint more but haven’t found the time until recently. I’ve sat down a few times to paint and when I do, everything else in life just kind of fades away and I feel a real sense of peace as I create. Using my creativity helps me feel super close to God and I’m grateful I’ve gotten time to do it!
Organizing and saying yes to playdates
The Lord is really providing community for me in this season in a way that is so clearly just a gift from Him. He’s heard my many prayers for friends for me and for my family, and I have gotten to see answers to that prayer in having people to invite over for playdates, and getting to say yes when other moms ask us to hang!
