Summer Book Clubs!

Hi friends!

One of my goals for this summer is to connect deeper with my community! I hope that a lot of this connection will be in person. I also know that getting together in person is difficult, especially when we are spread all over the country! So, I’m going to host 3 book clubs this summer as a way to connect to each other, add a little joy into our schedules, and learn from one another!

If you want to join any of these book clubs, message me here or on Instagram and I will send you the link to join!

Book Club #1:

The Six Conversations: Pathways to Connecting in an Age of Isolation and Incivility

When:

June 22, 2023 @ 8 – 8:45 PM CT

For:

EVERYONE!!! Regardless of age, background, or current situation, I think we all will benefit from this book!

Description:

It’s time for a conversation revival!

Conversation is getting harder. We’re feeling more isolated. Loneliness is becoming an epidemic. The Six Conversations: Pathways to Connecting Again in an Age of Isolation and Incivility reflects one of the deepest passions of Dr. Heather Holleman’s heart: to connect people in loving community. Professor Holleman often fields questions like:

How can I foster meaningful connection with others?

Why doesn’t anyone ever ask meaningful questions?

If my personal happiness depends upon having warm relationships—like all the research shows—how can I become a better conversationalist and create connection?

Can you relate? Are you longing for loving, meaningful, and joyful conversations? For practical skills to connect with others? Heather invites us to reimagine better conversations. Her work demonstrates how we can develop authentic community by changing our relational mindsets to become more curious, to believe the best about others, to express concern about their lives, and to share our own. Heather shows us how to embrace the Four Mindsets of a Loving Conversation and the Three Fresh Goals for Conversation. Using the latest research, she shares the foundational training necessary for engaging in truly loving conversations. Readers will be equipped with effective questions, self-assessments, and action steps to immediately implement in any situation—both personally and professionally.

If you desire deeper relationships with your spouse, dating partner, children, friends, in-laws, grandchildren, coworkers, clients, students, people in your neighborhood—or all the above—then read this book and grow in the art of The Six Conversations!

Book Club #3

Book:

M is for Mama: A Rebellion Against Mediocre Motherhood

When:

August 31, 2023 @ 8 – 8:45 PM CT

For:

Any mom, mother figure, soon to be mom, or someday mom.

Description:

Mama of ten Abbie Halberstadt helps women humbly and gracefully rise to the high calling of motherhood without settling for mediocrity or losing their minds in the process.

Motherhood is a challenge. Unfortunately, our worldly culture offers moms little in the way of real help. Mamas only connect to celebrate surviving another day and to share in their misery rather than rejoice in what God has done and to build each other up in hard times. There has a be a better way, a biblical way, for mamas to grow and thrive.

As a daughter of Christ, you have been called to be more than an average mama. Attaining excellence doesn’t have to be unsettling but it will take committed focus and a desire to parent well according to God’s grace and for His glory.

M is for Mama offers advice, encouragement, and scripturally sound strategies seasoned with a little bit of humor to help you embrace the challenge of biblical motherhood and raise your children with love and wisdom.

Mama, you are worthy of the awesome responsibility God has given you. Now it’s time to start believing you can live up to it.
