Discover your God-given gifts

God didn’t create you to do nothing with your life. He didn’t create you to fall into the mundane cycle of waking up, going to work or class, checking off your to-do lists, and then falling asleep to do it again the next day. He created you to figure out the gifts He has given you, and use those gifts to glorify and honor His name.

Each one of us has an incredible God-given talent that no one else in this world has, and God so desperately wants you to discover yours and use it! If you don’t feel like this is true for you, I want you to know something: You absolutely have something unique to offer this world. God has given you a precious gift, and He is so excited to watch you use it.

Sometimes, God-given gifts don’t have to come in grandiose packages. Often times, your gifts will look small to you, if you even recognize them as a gift at all. Your gift may be that you can connect with others on a deep level very quickly. Your gift could be your ability to go with the flow and adapt to any type of situation. Perhaps your gift is that you can plan the perfect event in just a matter of days, or create beautiful drawings, or maybe you’re a great story teller. To discover your gifts, here are some things you can do:

1 – Pray.

Spend some time asking God what gifts He has given you. After you ask, allow Him to answer you. Sit in silence and let God speak. See what kinds of situations God places in front of you in the next few weeks.

2 – Ask others.

Sometimes we are our own worst critic, which can make discovering our talents challenging. Hearing a new perspective from someone else about what they think our gifts are can be helpful for this reason.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for providing each and every human on this planet with unique and wonderful gifts. Thank you for providing ME with unique and wonderful gifts. You are loving, forgiving, compassionate; you are our one and only savior. And because of that Lord, I want to use my gifts to glorify you and give you such joy.

Please allow me to find my personal gifts. Put situations in front of me that will allow me to see what my talents are.

Be with me as I take action and use my gifts to honor you. Allow me to cast out the fears I have about using these gifts so that I can fully commit to using them for you.

Amen.
